In the end there is no perfect shop, but some stores are clearly more consistent. For things that I use every day, I prefer to pay a bit more if the quality is stable. Now I try to read as many real user reviews as possible before I buy anything. On the other hand, a well made pair of glasses can last a long time and feel comfortable all day. I also check if the lenses have any blue light filter or anti-reflection coating.
If anyone is interested in real user experiences, I sometimes write short notes about the shops I test.

The main things I look at for glasses are frame weight, hinge quality and lens coating. Some charts are very generic and do not match real measurements at all. I try to balance my budget between basic everyday items and a few special pieces. Sometimes I even measure an existing frame with a ruler before ordering anything new. Footwear is even harder because different brands cut shoes very differently. Sharing real world usage stories is often more helpful than any advertisement.
